“Publishing checks and letters from jail
Come to me at the same time, that's my regular mail
Honest, they say the cost of success could weigh out your living
But what it cost for that rest will pay out the difference
And what we on is to the left, made to be different” -Skyzoo, The Cost Of Sleep
I must say that 2016 is the Year of Drea and Brown Girl From Boston. Being a Brown Girl From Mattapan ain't bad. I don't have a magic wand, a special formula, or tap into my connections to obtain opportunities and blessings. I work hard, people notice my hard work, I am a kind person who sow good seeds and pour love and positivity to people, and take advantage of opportunities no matter how large or small. When you are FLY (Fearless, Loving, and You) and staying in your lane, the Universe and people take notice.
I sit back and think about the commitment, investment, losses, wins, opportunities, and heartbreaks I have experienced. Everything that I have asked for within the past via journaling, visualizing, and intimate conversations with my immediate tribe members have manifested. Ever No, I have been given and told have turned into the next opportunity (NO means next opportunity). Times, in which I felt worthless, invaluable, and silenced were time for reflection, tune-up, and adjustment. When things manifest, The Almighty is like Okay, Drea, chill out because I got you girl (I like to think God has a sense of humor).
Usually, when the manifestation is taking place, I start getting anxious, angry, and frustrated in which I have to have several seats, breathe, and let go of control. (Yes, I have issues with being a control freak over my own things and destiny) When the breakthrough and manifestation occurs, I am going to toot my horn, celebrate, rejoice, and share my good news because I am going through it, Boo.
When I am going through some thangs, it is not cute and I am not cute because I beat myself up, I have dark circles from the cost of sleep or just having a good soulful ugly cry and I have to check myself constantly!
So...I dedicate this piece to "The Cost of Sleep" because when other folks such as my husband, parents, and friends are sleeping, I am sacrificing sleep to move forward with my personal, professional, and holistic development.

For the cost of sleep
And what it cost to sleep
And should you ever doze
You doze cautiously
For the cost of sleep
And what it cost to sleep
The commas in the price tag
They talk to me
Long as you never know
