Journaling is an emotional and non-judgemental release done in a private setting. Journaling is a self-expressive and therapeutic tool to help with healing your inner self, reprogramming your self-talk, and rediscovering who you are, where you are currently at, and where you want to go. As a Clinician, licensed social worker, and Professor, I highly encourage my students in my various classes to journal to monitor growth, areas of self-improvement, trials, triumphs, aha moments, areas of healing, triggers, and trauma. Personally, journaling helps me to navigate the good, and bad, and life challenges and keeps me accountable to enhance my inner and outer self.

Journal Prompt: What's Your Life Purpose and Intentions?
Brown Girl Wisdom: What is your intention for today? Let me break down intention(ality): helps you understand the importance and purpose of your bigger vision and directs your mind and actions to help you achieve it.
Set one intention. My intention for today is self-determination. You have to be determined and audacious to achieve things that you achieve and more. There will be naysayers saying: Who does s/he think she is but you know who you are.
So, how are you going to manifest the vision by taking one small action step to achieve the big picture? How are you going to acknowledge the inner critic and shut it down to move forward in progressing, evolving, and elevating from basic to better?

The Glow Up SZN: Why Journaling is Therapeutic
My healing survival kit consists of journaling, therapy, and praying!
Besides being a blogger and content creator, I also utilize journaling to help me vent, grow, and self-reflect.I've been consistently journaling since November 2020, when my life was flipped upside down. Journaling, praying, and therapy helped me shed the weight of my mind, body, and spirit. I took my journal everywhere I traveled to because I needed to dump my hurt, pain, happiness, uncertainty, darkness, and craziness on paper.
Journaling helped with my clarity, spirituality, and connection to myself and God.
Now I have all my students who take my interpersonal skills class journal about their lived experiences, and they enjoy it.
I'm on journal number 3, and I can't wait to pin more dopeness. I thoroughly enjoy witnessing my growth and glow up even though healing sucks and is long-suffering.
Do you journal? If so, what therapeutic change have you witnessed within yourself? Drop a comment in the comment section!
Sample Journal Prompts:
1. When you look in the mirror, what is the first thing you see? A problem? A friendly face? Something to criticize?
2. Do I radically accept who I am?
3. What is one thing you have learned about yourself this year? The Good? The Bad? The Ugly? The Resiliency you didn't think you possessed?
4. What is one brutal truth. Do you need to face but refuse to admit?

Day 3 of The Holistic FLYness Challenge: Freedom
Day 3: Freedom
Affirmation: I have the freedom to do as I choose with my time.
Activity: Do something that's fly, free, and self-expressive. Host an indoor fashion show and showcase your flyness by recording that fierce walk and fashion while striking a pose. Draw, paint, host a dance or karaoke party, write and just be free. You have unlimited choices to be free and fly.
Introspective Questions: If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
What one thing have you not done that you really want to do? What’s holding you back?
